An exhibition of samples of the oriental collection and a presentation of the catalogue were held at the Arts Palace of Georgia – Museum of Cultural History. The author of the catalogue is Professor Giorgi Kalandia, the publisher is Shorena Shaverdashvili. The catalogue was prepared by the Arts Palace of Georgia and the Royal Asiatic Society of Georgia. With the support of the "Sezani" printing house catalogue was published in Georgian, English and Japanese languages. It includes more than 100 items.
The event was graced by Thea Tsulukiani, the Minister of Culture and Sport of Georgia. The Minister of Culture congratulated the employees of the museum and the attending public on International Museum Day and the opening of the new exhibition. The event was attended by the General Director of the Art Palace-Culture History Museum of Georgia, President of the Royal Asiatic Society Giorgi Kalandia, Vice President of the Royal Asiatic Society Tamar Latsabidze, Director of the Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Fine Arts Nika Akhalbedashvili, Director of the Giorgi Chitaia Ethnographic Museum Nino Chipashvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan, Dovletmirat Seitmamedov, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehdi Saadatnejadi, expert on public diplomacy of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mojtaba Mousavi, as well as museum employees and representatives of the museum field.
Among the museum’s rich and diverse orientalist collection, visitors can immerse themselves in the cultures of Japan, China, the Middle East, Persia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Arabia, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The collection includes textiles, furniture, jewelry, weapons, and various items, including a unique 4000-year-old Cuneiform plate from Georgia, which the museum bought last year from a private person with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
It should be noted that with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, the Royal Asiatic Society of Georgia and on the initiative of the museum directorate, the museum's collections were significantly replenished in 2020-2023.
